Three PCR Plastic Consumables
There are three types of commonly used PCR plastic consumables in laboratories, which are tubes, plates, and their sealing methods. They are all used to run PCR reactions through the thermal cycler. These plastic consumables are made of high-quality raw materials that meet high standards. The 100,000-level clean room and technicians with decades of experience complete the production under strict industry monitoring, so their accuracy is guaranteed. Now let’s take a look at these accurate PCR supplies one by one.
Commonly Used PCR Tubes
Single tubes and strip tubes make up the commonly used PCR tubes. They are clear translucent pure PP material, easy to observe and record.
- A single tube is an individual, self-contained tube, usually with its own cap.
- Strip tubes are usually eight tubes joined together, and their caps are also as strips as they are.
The single tube is usually 0.2mL in volume, and the eight-connected tube strip is usually 0.1mL and 0.2mL in volume. They are both tools for micro-solution handling. Their small volume reduces the use of expensive reagents and waste avoidance and can be heated and cooled quickly and efficiently.
PCR Virgin PP Plates
Common plates are 96 deep well plates, 96 standard well plates, and 384 well plates.
The deep well plate is deepened on the basis of the standard version.
Commonly used standard well plates are 96 and 384 wells, both of them are made from virgin PP to ensure the minimal loss of reaction solution. They also typically have a uniform thickness, which ensures better heat transfer.
Transparent plates are more common, and there are also white plates and plates with black letters. Skirt, semi-skirt, and full-skirt are offered generally.
For the good volume, 96 well plates have a capacity of 0.1mL and 0.2mL per well. The 384 well plates are all 40uL in volume per well.
PCR Plastic Consumables Sealing Method
Single tubes have hinged caps and strip tubes have separate strip caps. And for plates, there are sealing films and magnetic sleeves rods as the sealing options.
Sealing films are suitable for all plates, and the magnetic sleeve rods are for the deep well plates.
- Sealing films are transparent pressure plastic films that provide a good barrier against contamination during use.
- A magnetic sleeve rod also called a magnetic bar, it fits perfectly with deep well plates.
- The materials they use are chemically stable and durable.
They are all common seals that provide a good seal. Either way is useful.
All of these PCR consumables can be used for optimal PCR performance and storage in DNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, and other molecular biology applications. This news may help you to determine instrument compatibility and find proper PCR consumables for your experiments. In addition to this equipment, of course, there are other experimental auxiliary supplies, such as pipettes, Petri dishes, and so on. Hawach offers not only PCR tubes, plates, and seals, but a variety of other qualified laboratory consumables.
